Types of Hearing Aids

When considering a hearing aid its important that you get the right advice from the start.

There are three types of Hearing Aids:

  • Invisible are designed to fit completely within the ear canal and use ‘state of art’ technology.

  • In the Ear tend to sit within the ear opening and are easier to adjust and handle than Invisible Hearing Aids.

  • RIC tend to sit behind the ear similar to BTE, however the actual output speaker is inserted into the ear canal.

  • Behind the Ear sit discreetly behind the ear, have easy access to control the settings and is ideal for people with dexterity issues.

Invisible

These invisible hearing aids use the latest digital technology and are custom made to fit completely in your ear canal. The only thing your friends and family will notice is your improved hearing.

In The Ear (ITE)

In-the-ear aids are contained in a custom-moulded casing that fits into the ear. Although they are visible within the ear, they are easy to handle and have easy-to-access controls

Receiver In Canal (RIC)

These RIC hearing aids are the most popular style of hearing aids, due to the discreetness, however, it can still pack some power at the wearers requirements.

Behind The Ear (BTE)

Housed in a small curved case that fits discreetly behind the ear, these hearing aids are connected via a clear, thin tube to an ear mould that’s made to your ear shape for a perfect fit.
